Trinacria World Theatre Club (London Chapter): December Meet-Up

ABOUT WORLD THEATRE CLUB

Trinacria World Theatre Club is like a book club...but for theatre.

Once a month we invite anyone who’s interested to come out and see a show. After the performance, we’ll pick a nearby spot for a drink and a casual chat about the work we’ve just seen, facilitated by a Trinacria Theatre Company member. We’ll aim to hold one theatre club meet-up monthly.

For our November London Chapter Meet-Up, we've chosen "#WeAreArrested" at the Arcola Theatre, a co-production between the Arcola and the RSC.

When the Crows Visit.jpg

ABOUT THE SHOW

When a journalist is sent a flash-drive containing critical evidence of illegal government activity, he is duty-bound to publish the story. But with the nation destabilised and divided, a sinister power is eroding the rule of law. What price will he pay for speaking out?

#WeAreArrested is a gripping play about fighting for truth in a network of lies.

Adapted from the book by Can Dündar, who was arrested for publishing footage of Turkish State Intelligence sending weapons into Syria, this deeply personal and universal story finds urgent new life as authoritarian politics spread across the globe.

ABOUT THE SHOW

British Egyptian Sabrina Mahfouz grew up with ambitions of being a spy. She has two passports, speaks two languages and has a cultural understanding of two very different countries. But when it came to applying for MI6, it turned out she wasn’t quite British enough. So now she’s on her own intelligence mission – to explore who really holds the power in and over the Middle East. In a world long obsessed with access to oil, will water soon become the natural resource that dictates control, or has it been all along?

ABOUT THE SHOW

"Make believe. Make real."

Zach is a medieval scholar and devotee of LARP (Live Action Role Playing); Laura ghost-writes romance novels. They meet at the crossroads of the competing realities they create and live in. Round Table is a comedy about pretending to be what you already are.
“Artfully directed and impeccably acted... Round Table is by turns hilarious, poetic, psychologically acute, and poignant without being sentimental. Should you be searching for superb theater, then your quest ends here.”
